BoPaul Media Acquires OB Films’ French Vintage Titles
Los Angeles – BoPaul Media Worldwide (BMW) continues its streak of classic film library acquisitions with the announcement today of the heralded OB Films catalog from France, including Roger Vadim’s acclaimed “Une Femme Fidele” starring Sylvia Kristel of “Emmanuelle” fame.
“Une Femme Fidele” (“The Faithful Woman”, 1976) is the 1830’s story of a French venture capitalist and aristocratic assassin who seduces a virtuous, beautiful woman.
BMW has acquired all rights in the 10-film English-language archive worldwide, excluding French-speaking territories.
Among the other titles are “Scream of Stone”, a 1991 film directed by Werner Herzog about a climbing expedition on Cerro Torre in Argentina/Chile and starring Donald Sutherland and Mathilda May (“The Jackal”); and “Les Pas Perdus” (“The Last Steps”, 1964) starring Michèle Morgan (“Higher and Higher” with Frank Sinatra) and Jean Louis Trintignant, star of “Amour” which won the Palme d’Or of Cannes Films Festival 2012 and is entered for Best Foreign Language Oscar in February 2013. His most famous roles were opposite Brigitte Bardot in Roger Vadim’s “And God Created Woman” and in Claude Lelouch’s “A Man and A Woman.”
The announcement was made by Benjamin Ouahba, owner of OB Films based in Paris, and which has been in business since 1975 as a producer and distributor of films primarily in France and the UK; and veteran film and TV distribution executive Paul Rich, owner/CEO of BMW since its founding earlier this year.
BMW’s library has grown to more than 1,100 titles, including the RKO Film, Victory Films, Arrow Films, and Jose Frade Producciones catalogs.
The head of OB Films is Benjamin Ouahba who has been in the business since 1975. For his French distribution company, he recently acquired movies such as “Paprika” from Variety, and “Frankie Starlight” and “A Price Above Rubies” from Voltage.
Also on OB Films’ French film roster are ten (10) Bud Spencer/Terence Hill movies, “Christopher Columbus: The Discovery”, and the “Blood Fist” series. Ouahba continues to produce and distribute French movies and European movies.
